Orthopedic surgery can restore function and decrease pain, enabling patients to get back to their regular lives. The two typically coexist because pain hinders people's capacity to perform. For instance, a stiff hip will make it difficult for patients to stand, walk, or sit comfortably, regardless of how much arthritis is present in the hip itself. Rarely does arthritis deteriorate to the point where the hip is fused, rendering it immobile. In the body, pain plays a role in defence. The discomfort we feel when we hurt ourselves serves as a reminder not to use (and further harm) the wounded area. We now have excellent therapies for a variety of excruciatingly painful and incapacitating disorders, which is one of the most significant advantages of modern orthopaedics.
